Dr. Ratheany Sakbun

After high school at Phillips Academy in Andover, I attended Wellesley College, graduating in 1989 with Departmental Honors. I went back home to Hawaii to attend medical school at the John A Burns School of Medicine. I embarked on my residency at NYU (New York University) Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in the Obstetrics/Gynecological Department. I started practicing in 1998 and two years later became a board certified Ob/Gyn and was elected a Diplomat of American College of Obstetric & Gynecology.

My medical career started in 1998 in Terre Haute, Indiana where I worked alongside my brother, Dr Vanarra Sakbun, who still practices there. I then returned home to start a 7 year tenure at a major hospital and subsequently moved to Northern California and practiced there for the last 3 years.

After being an employee for health care organizations providing both ob and gyn services for 11 years, I decided to open my own private practice so that I can focus and follow my true passion of advancing my surgical skills in gynecological surgery. I am very excited to practice in Tucson, Arizona providing comprehensive, quality, and personalized gynecological care to women of all ages.I am grateful to St Mary's Hospital, Carondelet Group for the opportunity to set up the practice here.

During my spare time, I enjoy taking my two little pom-poms (Tiger and Lilly) for long walks or short runs, whatever is their (not mine) preference of that day! My other hobbies include reading, biking, jogging and watching a great movie . I have come to love watching the Tucson sunrise , the hills and palm trees in the backdrop of my office and the beautiful sunset that brings an end to yet another gratifying day in Tucson.
